Frequently asked questions

How is GPA calculated?

GPA = Σ(grade points × credits) ÷ Σ(credits). A 4-credit A contributes four times as much as a 1-credit A.

Is A+ worth 4.0 or 4.3?

On the most common US scale, A+ = 4.0 (some schools use 4.3). Adjust the grade options if your institution differs.

Do pass/fail courses count?

They typically carry credits toward graduation but no grade points, so they are excluded from GPA — leave them out here.
